Freshwater. A new community. A wonderful place to live, work and play. Clean energy. Smart homes.
Freshwater is designed with traditional preferences such as attractive homes and streets and quality amenities in mind. But the design and building plans also consider long-term operating costs and resident health and comfort. We think it’s the right mix of long-standing preferences and new ways.
Freshwater is a fully entitled, mixed-use community planned for approximately 1,200 dwelling units, 160,000 square feet of neighborhood retail and a 230 slip marina. The community, near the North Shore of Lake Okeechobee, Florida, will offer everything from cottages and villas to larger detached single-family homes for resident living. Freshwater will be a beautiful, walkable community with lakes, wetlands and bicycle paths and the Lake Okeechobee region’s finest new marina.
Freshwater will be one of the leading sustainable communities in the nation, fostering economic growth and energy independence for its residents, its region, and the nation. It is expected to be the nation’s largest CleanEnergy™ Community, relying on solar power to provide energy for homes and electric vehicles.
Freshwater is a prototype for how communities will be developed in the future, but it will be available soon. Groundbreaking is planned for 2010.
